Nuneaton PCSO clocks up over 1000 hours on patrol

Operation Resolve tackles Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) and violence by targeting ‘hotspot’ areas. In total, the force has carried out more than 13,000 hours of dedicated patrols in hotspots over the past 14 months.

Over 1,300 hours (10% of the total!) have been carried out by PCSO Melodie Leech in the centre of Nuneaton, on top of her patrols in other parts of the town.

PCSO Leech said: “In Nuneaton the key issues we see include thefts from shops, ASB and violence.

“ASB tends to increase during the winter months, with teens wanting access to businesses to escape the cold weather. By getting to know groups of young people and forming a relationship, we learn their names and details and can hand out acceptable behaviour contracts as the first port of call.

“We partner with local businesses and the council to manage incidents, and it's important that the community see us tackling these issues to strengthen the relationship between us and their trust in us as a force.

"We're also addressing street drinking by engaging with the individuals involved and working with our ASB officer to issue community protection warnings where needed.

“Local residents appreciate our presence and often tell us this when we’re on patrol. We’d love to see more people engaging with us when we’re out and about, and sharing intelligence and reporting crimes through our official channels; every little helps.”
