A woman remains in a critical condition after a pursuit involving a police vehicle and a car near Stratford on Monday (24 August).
A pursuit began that lasted around six minutes after a black Audi failed to stop for officers and made off towards the A46.
At 5.44pm the Audi driver is understood to have been in collision with another vehicle – a white Ford Puma – on the A439 Warwick Road.
It is believed at this early stage of investigation that two other cars were damaged because of the collision, with several others reporting damage from the pursuit.
Sadly, the male driver of the Audi was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.
The Ford driver – a woman in her 60s – was taken to hospital in a critical condition where she remains at this time.
A passenger in the Ford – a woman in her 20s - was treated for with minor injuries and another driver went to hospital for further assessment, but his injuries were not believed to be serious.
As is mandatory with a death following police contact, we referred ourselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The IOPC has declared an independent investigation, and we will continue to fully co-operate with their investigation.

We are asking the family if they wish to issue a tribute to the Audi driver via IOPC Family Liaison Managers. We will update on our website and channels if this is agreed to.
