Did you know we’re currently accepting applications for transferee firearms officers from other police forces?
An incredibly rewarding role, authorised firearms officers (AFOs) provide a 24/7-armed response across the county – helping us keep our communities safe from the most serious threats and risks.
You’ll respond to spontaneous firearms incidents and threats, planned firearms operations and provide on-call tactical firearms capability.
We’re a pioneering, innovative and friendly force – we face the unique challenge of balancing the needs of both urban and rural areas, while staying on top of local crime patterns and building strong relationships with all our communities.
So, if you’re looking for a fresh challenge with an opportunity to make a real difference and the chance to broaden your experience, we’re the force for you.
AFO Hart transferred to Warwickshire from Police Scotland earlier this year. Below he shares his story on why he made the move:
“Continuing in firearms was a no-brainer when my wife and I decided to make the move from Scotland to the Midlands. I loved the job but just needed to find a new force. Something about Warwickshire stood out to me when I saw the advert for roles here.
"One of the biggest draws (apart from the beautiful countryside) was the shift pattern, which I knew would suit my home life.

"The incredibly warm reception I got is something that really stuck with me and ultimately, swayed my decision.
"Transferring from a force where you know loads of people in your command area to somewhere you know hardly anyone is an incredibly nerve-wracking experience, but the support I’ve received since I relocated has made a huge difference.
"It’s really cemented that I made the right decision in choosing Warwickshire. The compassion and pride featured in the force values have really shone through.
"I’m finding that you can build long-lasting relationships in a smaller force, and you’ll almost always be involved in whatever’s going on, which is a real positive. I’m also busier than I’ve ever been, which I love.
"If you’re thinking of transferring, do it! I promise it’ll be the best decision you make.”
