We’re excited to open opportunities for transferee firearms officers to join us.
A vital, challenging, and extremely rewarding role, authorised firearms officers (AFO) provide a 24/7 armed response across the county – helping us keep our communities safe from the most serious threats and risks.
You’ll respond to spontaneous firearms incidents (SFIs), CBRN-based firearms threats, planned firearms operations and provide 24/7 on-call tactical firearms capability.
You’ll also work alongside our Operational Policing Unit (OPU), support local policing on force priorities, and target cross-border criminal work with neighbouring forces.
In an ever-changing world, where each day brings fresh challenges and complexity, the need for policing has never been greater.
We’ve gained a reputation as a pioneering and innovative force - responsible for policing a large diverse, multi-cultural population.
So, if you’re looking for a fresh challenge with a genuine opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives and the chance to broaden your experience, we’re the force for you.
