We have launched an investigation after a teenage girl reported being raped in a toilet at Nuneaton Railway Station. The incident occurred at around 5.50pm yesterday (Sunday 19 January).
We recognise the incident will cause concern in the local community, but we've begun a full and thorough investigation, which includes studying CCTV footage.
We'll also have a heightened police presence in the town - with officers around the train station and surrounding area - over the coming days while we continue our enquiries.
Please speak to them if you know anything or think you might have seen something that can help - the information you provide could be key to our investigation.
Detective Inspector Owen Fell from Warwickshire Police said: “This is an extremely concerning incident and we’ve launched a thorough enquiry. We’re studying CCTV from the site and other places in the town we believe the victim and suspect visited.
“We believe they were together in the afternoon before the attack took place, going into at least one pub in the town and to Riversley Park. We’re appealing for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or concerning to get in touch with us.”
Anyone with information that can help police with their enquiries can go to www.warwickshire.police.uk/report or call 101. Please quote incident 236 of 19 January 2025.
