Officers recognised for helping vulnerable people

Our officers are often called to help people when they are at their lowest. At our Chief Constable Award ceremony last week seven officers (including Sgt Charlie Thompson, Insp Simon Ryan and DS Matt Craddock pictured) were commended for helping members of the public.
During one incident in Strafford last year officers spent hours negotiating with a man in crisis. They put themselves in danger by talking face-to-face with him at height with no safety equipment. They safely resolved the situation and brought the man to a place of safety where he was able to receive the appropriate support.
This was just one example of our officers supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community at the some of the most difficult times in their lives.
The seven officers were recognised for their respect, empathy and professionalism.
