A 17-year-old boy from Bedworth was arrested at just after 3pm yesterday (12 September) following a police chase on an allegedly stolen moped.
Officers from the Nuneaton and Bedworth SNT reportedly spotted the moped driving down Smarts Road in Bedworth and requested for the driver to stop.
The driver allegedly continued down the street pursued by trained pursuit officers, and started weaving in and out of traffic before reportedly falling off.
The moped was identified as having been reported stolen.
Following this, the 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, failure to stop when directed by a police officer, and dangerous driving.
Sergeant Ryan Price said “Thankfully no injury was caused to the rider or anyone else, the outcome could have been very different due to the driving displayed by the rider.
“We’re pleased that we’ve recovered the vehicle, and we will continue to keep a high vigilance for motorbike and moped thefts around Nuneaton and Bedworth.”
