FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 990-2025
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 3rd October 2025 as follows:
The number of individuals aged 18–24 arrested by your force between 1 January 2020 and the most recent available data in 2025 who were recorded as living in young persons’ supported accommodation (e.g. YMCA, Depaul, Foyer, or similar schemes for homeless young people). If available, a breakdown by year.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Response: Please be advised that the information is not available in a readily retrievable format. Residing addresses (where recorded) are present on a custody log; however, there is no marker or identifier to show where an address relates to young persons supported accommodation. In order to determine what information is held in this respect it would be necessary to review each and every relevant record on an individual basis. There is a total of 5602 custody records for individuals aged 18 to 24 during the stated period and an estimate of the time involved is set out below:
5602 @ 5 minutes per record = 28010 / 60 = 467 hours
Therefore, the cost of searching, retrieving and collating the requested information would greatly exceed the fees limit (£450) as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts as a Refusal Notice for this request.
In accordance with Section 16 of the Act, I have a duty to provide advice and assistance in relation to refining your request, where possible; however, due to the volume of records that would need to be manually reviewed, I am unable to suggest a way to do so to allow information to be retrieved within the fees limit.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
