FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 1056-2025
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 22nd October 2025 as follows:
2025 (so far)
2024
2023
2022
2021
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Q1 response: Please be advised that the information requested is not centrally recorded and is not available in a readily retrievable format. There is no specific identifier for raids resulting in cannabis recovery, and to determine what information is held relevant to your request, it would be necessary to review all drug offences involving cannabis on an individual basis.
Even if we were to limit the search to Home Office Code 92.21 – ‘Production or being concerned in production of a controlled drug – cannabis’ – such searches would exceed the amount to which we are legally required to respond. The cost of locating and retrieving the information would surpass the ‘appropriate limit’ set out in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004, which is £450. This equates to 18 hours of work at the standard rate of £25 per hour.
In accordance with Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts as a Refusal Notice in relation to your request.
In accordance with Section 16 of the Act, I have a duty to provide advice and assistance and can advise the following:
Q1 - it would be possible to conduct searches for the number of offences recorded, for each year of the stated period, under Home Office Code 92/21 – Production of cannabis.
Q2 - please note that conviction data falls within the remit of HM Courts and Tribunals Service, and you may wish to contact them directly. However, if you require the number of arrests for production of cannabis, searches could be undertaken for the period requested.
Q3 - although a fire caused by cannabis cultivation may be referenced within investigation papers, identifying such cases would require reviewing all records individually and would exceed the fees limit..
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
