FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 1040-2025
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 17th October 2025 as follows:
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to request information on road traffic collisions recorded by your force area.
Please provide data for the last three full calendar years (2022, 2023, and 2024) and for the period 1 January 2025 to 10 October 2025, or for the most recent period available.
- The total number of recorded road traffic collisions within your force area in each year.
- A breakdown of recorded road traffic collisions by time of day (e.g. morning, afternoon, evening, night) and/or by day of the week, if held.
- A breakdown of recorded collisions by weather condition at the time of the incident (e.g. fine, rain, fog, snow), if held.
- For each year, please provide the five roads within your force area that recorded the highest number of road traffic collisions, including:
- A) The name of the road
- B) The total number of collisions recorded on that road during the year
- C) A breakdown of those collisions by severity (fatal, serious, slight), if held
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below. When reviewing the information please note the following:
- The information provided relates to injury collisions, damage only collisions (no injury) are not required for statistical purposes, and this information is not routinely recorded on the collision system.
- *Figures for 2025 are not for a complete year and are provisional as there may still be data that has yet to be submitted. The statistics are subject to verification and potentially some of the collisions could still be under investigation and therefore, the final classification of the collision could change.
- **With regard to Q4, roads are classified as either A roads, B roads, Motorways or Unclassified. Due to this classification, the highest number of collisions recorded was in the ‘Unclassified’ category; therefore, we have provided the number of collisions for this classification, and also the next five roads with the highest number of collisions. Unclassified roads are public roads that are not part of the classified road network (i.e., not designated as an A, B, or M road). These roads are mostly intended for local traffic and are managed by local highway authorities. They are still legally public highways and subject to standard road laws.
