FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 576-2025
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 28th May 2025 as follows:
Q1. The total number of Notice of Intended Prosecutions (“NIPs”) for speeding offences issued in the calendar year 2024, broken down by speed limit. Please include all NIPs, regardless of how generated.
Q2. Of the total number of NIPs above, how many were generated from fixed cameras, also broken down by speed limit.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
When considering the information please note:
- Information has been extracted from the Penalty Notice Processing system.
- The numerical data presented below is an unaudited snapshot of unpublished data sourced from "live" systems and is subject to the interpretation of the original request by the individual extracting the data.
- Information relates to all cameras that were operational during 2024. This includes temporary cameras in place for road works.
- Motorway cameras have been included in the fixed camera figures at Q2
- *Variable figures relate to where motorway cameras had variable speed limits in place. It is not possible to determine the speed limit at the time of a specific offence without examining each and every record on an individual basis. This would take an inordinate amount of time which would exceed the cost threshold (£450), which equates to 18 hours work at a standard rate of £25 per hour, as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
