I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 27th May 2025 as follows:
This is a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
Q1. Over the past five years (27 May 2020 to 27 May 2025) has your force used any AI technologies for lie detection? Please answer yes or no.
If your force has not used any AI technologies for lie detection purposes please ignore the remaining questions.
Q2. When was AI technology for lie detection first used? Please share the month and year.
Q3. Is AI technology for lie detection currently used (as of 27 May 2025)? If not, please share the date it stopped being used and any reasons why it stopped being used.
Q4. Please share any training manuals related to AI technology for lie detection. If you need to redact or omit any of the information, please explain why and please note that time taken for redactions does not usually count towards the cost limit.
Q5. Has your force conducted an Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) for any AI technology for lie detection? Please disclose any EIA conducted. I understand these may be redacted but I ask that you redact only exempted information and justify the use of those exemptions, as above.
