FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 310-2025
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 11th March 2025 as follows:
Q1. Staff structure for Dogs unit department - both Police Officers and Police Staff.
Q2. Number of dogs and their specialisation.
Q3. Annual costs for FY23/24 for working dogs - food, vets, kennels, etc.
Q4. Annual costs for FY23.24 for Police Officers working in the Dogs department.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Q1 response: The dog section comes under the Operational Policing Unit (OPU). Working solely in the Dog Section we have Officers of Police Constable rank who make up dog handlers, dog trainer, and dog legislation officers. Although there are other officers of higher rank in the structure (Sergeants and an Inspector), they do not work exclusively in the dog section.

Q3 response: £27,631.00
Q4 response: £513,894.30 – this figure represents the Police Constables who make up the officers working full-time in the dog section (as per Q1).
