FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 1-2025

 

I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 2^nd January 2025, and clarification received on 6^th January 2025, as follows:

 

Can you please provide the details of the number of Domestic Abuse Victims reporting to your Police Authority broken down as follows:

 

For the period 1st January 2024 to 31st December 2024 inclusive by Age, Ethnic Origin and Gender.

 

For ease of reference, please incorporate a summary total by Age, Ethnic Origin and Gender both Force Wide and by Police Division.

 

On 2^nd January 2025 we contacted you for clarification as follows:

 

Please note that there is no specific offence of 'domestic abuse'.  Where domestic abuse is believed to be a factor in any crime, an included classification of 'domestic abuse investigation' is added.

 

Therefore, please can you advise whether you are requesting the number of crimes, recorded in 2024, with an included classification of 'domestic abuse investigation, broken down by victim Age, Ethnic Origin and Gender, both Force Wide and by Policing Area?

 

On 6^th January you provided the following clarification:

Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.

 

Response: Please find the requested information set out below. The data was obtained by searching for all offences with an included classification of ‘Domestic Abuse Investigation’, recorded between 1^st January 2024 and 31^st December 2024. These results were then refined to identify crimes with one or more victim roles recorded. Please note that crimes will not always have a victim recorded, or they could have more than one victim. Therefore, the number of victims will not necessarily correlate to the number of crimes recorded in the period. In addition, please note that the breakdowns by policing area, when totalled, will not correlate with the Forcewide data as some records are recorded as out of force.
