FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: FOI-228-2025
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 19th February 2025 as follows:
How many missing children known to the force in your jurisdiction have been associated with gangs over the past 5 years? Please may this be broken down into the years 2020,2021,2022,2023 and 2024 respectively.
I'd like this broken down into gender and age where possible please.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Response: Please be advised that the information requested is not held in a readily retrievable format. In order to determine the requested information it would be necessary to review each and every missing child report, during the stated period, to ascertain whether they are recorded as being associated with a gang. This would equate to thousands of records and, as you will appreciate, it would take an inordinate amount of time to conduct searches which would vastly exceed the amount to which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of locating and retrieving the information exceeds the ‘appropriate level’ as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please treat this letter as the Refusal Notice I am required to provide to you in respect of your request.
In accordance with Section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice and assistance in relation to your request, however due to the volume of records that would need to be reviewed I have been unable to identify information that could be supplied within the fees limit.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
