FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 158-2025
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 4th February 2025 as follows:
1) Your parental leave policies, including paternity and maternity leave. If you have different policies for police officers and staff, please include both separately
2) For the most recent three years you have data, a) How many officers were eligible for paternity leave? And b) How many officers took paternity leave, and for how many weeks on average?
3) If you have this data, what % of officers who have resigned voluntarily over the last three years cited the impact of their job on their family as a reason?
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Q1 response: Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires Warwickshire Police, when refusing to provide such information (because the information is exempt) to provide you the applicant with a notice which:
(a) states that fact,
(b) specifies the exemption in question and
(c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.
The requested information is published on the Warwickshire Police website and is therefore exempt from disclosure by virtue of Section 21 – ‘Information Reasonably Accessible by Other Means’. The relevant policies can be viewed via the following links:

Q2a response: No information held.
Q2b response: 96 officers took maternity support leave between 17th February 2022 and 16th February 2025, for an average of 1.95 weeks.
Q3 response: It is not possible to provide information prior to June 2024 as this is when the force began to record categorised individual reasons for leaving. However, I can advise that, of the data held, none fall into the category of ‘impact of their job on their family’, or anything similar to this.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
