FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 144-2025
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 3rd February 2025 as follows:
Data is requested from 2014 to the present if available. If data is not available from 2014, please provide information from the earliest year for which data is available, and state that year.
- Between 2014 (or the earliest year from which data is held) and 2024, how many police stations have closed in your force?
- Of the police stations that were closed, how many had front counters open to the public?
- Between 2014 (or the earliest year from which data is held) and 2024, how many police stations have opened in your force area?
- Of those police stations that were opened, how many had front counters that still remain open to the public?
Based on the personal knowledge of relevant parties now e.g. individual(s) responsible for the force's estate and/or front counter services:
- Where stations with front counters closed and were either closed completely or not replaced by a new station with a front counter, what was mainly the rationale for this?
- to reduce costs/save money
- lack of use by the public
- the availability of alternative services e.g. online
- Does your force have any plans to close front counters in the future? YES/NO. If yes, why (please select from options above).
- Does your force have any plans to open front counters in the future? YES/NO. If yes, why (please provide a short description).
A police station is defined as any building where officers and staff are permanently based.

Q1 response: No information held. I can advise that all station closures took place prior to the date range set out in your request.
Outside of the Act and in order to provide assistance, I have included a link to a previous request which relates to closures prior to 2014, which you may find of interest:

Outside of the Act and in order to provide assistance, although it falls outside of the stated time period, I can advise that in 2013 a new station/front counter opened in Leamington Spa as part of the wider Justice Centre at the following address:

CV32 4EL
However, this was not an addition, but rather a replacement of the already existing station and front counter in Leamington Spa. This remains open to the public.
