I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 19th August 2025 as follows:
How do officers determine the value of property seized from suspects and found to be stolen when charging them with a crime?
Response: No specific recorded information held.
Outside of the Act and as a gesture of goodwill, I can advise that officers use all available information to determine value. For example, in the event that an item was stolen from a shop, then the retailer would provide exact costings.
