FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 844-2025
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 12th August 2025 as follows:
We would like to request all incidents relating to those staying at The Delta Hotel, other Warwickshire hotels (or private accommodation) being used to process asylum seekers along with any asylum seekers who have travelled to any town in Warwickshire and committed an offence.
If possible could we please have:
Date of offence
Location of offence
Crime reference number *if available
Type of offence
Residency of offender (hotel or contracted housing) *if allowed
Nationality *if allowed
Status with CPS
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Response: Please be advised that the requested information is not centrally recorded and is therefore not held in a readily retrievable format. There is no specific ‘field’ or ‘marker’ within the Crime Recording System for capturing whether a suspect (or anyone else connected to a crime) is seeking asylum. Therefore, in order to attempt to ascertain the number of crimes committed anywhere in Warwickshire by someone who is seeking asylum and who is being housed in a hotel or any other accommodation for this reason, it would be necessary to manually review each and every crime investigation and its wider documentation on an individual basis. As you will appreciate, manual review of all crimes on this scale would take an inordinate amount of time and would be above the amount to which we are legally required to respond, i.e., the cost of locating and retrieving the requested information, exceeds the ‘appropriate level’ as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts as a Refusal Notice for this request.
In accordance with Section 16 of the Act, I have a duty to provide advice and assistance on refining your request; however, due to the volume of records that would need to be individually reviewed, I am unable to suggest a way to reduce the request into one that could be managed within the fees limit.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
