FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 440-2025
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 15th April 2025 as follows:
I would like the number of Repeat Victims between April 2024 and April 2025, and what percentage of domestic incidents that this equates to.
On 16th May 2025 we requested the following clarification:
Please can you advise whether your request is asking for:
The number of repeat DA victims (an individual who has been a victim of two or more crimes in a 12-month period where a DA keyword is applied) and what proportion that is of the total crimes recorded with a DA keyword during the same period?
I would be grateful if you could confirm that this is the case, or if something else entirely, please advise.
On 27th May we received your clarification as below:
Yes, so what I wish to have is the number of domestic incidents (in total) and then the number of domestic incidents where the victim is linked more than once in a 1 year period.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
The numerical data presented below is an unaudited snapshot of unpublished data sourced from "live" systems and is subject to the interpretation of the original request by the individual extracting the data.
Response: A search was conducted of the Crime Recording System for all crimes with a ‘Domestic Abuse’ flag, or an included classification of ‘Domestic Abuse Investigation’, recorded between 1st May 2024 and 30th April 2025. This search returned 6,693 crimes. The same search was conducted again but for where the resulting crimes were required to have at least one victim role recorded. This identified 6,436 victims. I can advise that 884 of these were ‘repeat victims’ within the specified period (defined as where an individual has been recorded as a victim in two or more Domestic Abuse related crimes), which equates to a total of 2,233 crimes. Please note that crimes will not always have a victim role recorded, and some could have more than one. Therefore, the number of victims will not correlate to the number of crimes recorded in the period.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible; however, the data is subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large-scale recording system, therefore care should be taken to ensure data collection processes, and their inevitable limitations are considered when interpreting the data
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
