FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 596-2024
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 24th June 2024 as follows:
- In the last 3 years, how many offences/alleged offences has the force logged where TikTok was recorded as being an element in the offence? [Between April 6 - April 5 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24]
1a. What were the nature of offences for 2023/24 only?
1b. What police action was taken for offences in 2023/24 only?
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below. When reviewing the information please note the following:
- Your request has been interpreted as requesting a keyword search; therefore, searches were conducted for all offences, recorded in financial years 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24, where the keyword ‘TikTok’ or ‘Tik Tok’ (upper and lower case) is mentioned within the MO Description or Incident Summary fields.
- Keyword searches are not carried out routinely as they are not reliable. They will only bring back records where the chosen keyword(s) is present within the MO Description / Incident Summary of an investigation. These are limited free text fields and, even if relevant to the circumstances of an offence, the keyword may not be present within those fields. Therefore, the information provided cannot be assumed to be an accurate representation and should be treated with caution.
