FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 594-2024
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 24th June 2024 as follows:
Please confirm the total number of reported dog attacks on a person, including dog breed details, from January 1st 2024 to present.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below. When reviewing the information please note the following:
- Searches were conducted for all offences, recorded between 1st January 2024 and 25th June 2024, under Home Office Code ‘008/21 - Owner or person in charge allowing dog to be dangerously out of control in any place in England or Wales (whether or not a public place) injuring any person or assistance dog’.
- The MO Description / Incident Summary of each of the resulting records were then reviewed on an individual basis to determine those where the offence involved a person, and to ascertain whether the breed of dog has been recorded.
- Where a breed has been recorded this has been provided; however, it is important to note that, in many cases, this is a description provided by persons who have no former knowledge of the animal. Therefore, the information is based on what has been recorded but cannot be taken as verified information in relation to the breed.
