FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 560-2024
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 11th June 2024 as follows:
Q1. How many incidents were your police force’s vehicles involved in between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2023?
Q1a. How much money has your police force spent repairing its vehicles following these incidents?
Q1b. How much of this money, if any, has your police force recovered through insurance policies?
Q1c. How much of this money, if any, has your police force recovered through an uninsured loss recovery (ULR) programme?
Q2. Does your police force currently have an uninsured loss recovery (ULR) programme in place?
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in providing the response to your request and for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
When reviewing the below information please be advised that ‘incidents’ has been interpreted as Road Traffic Collisions (RTC) involving Warwickshire Police vehicles and a third party, where either the third party or Warwickshire Police were at fault. ‘Own fault’ incidents involving our vehicles such as collisions with static objects, collisions with moving animals, tactical collisions etc, have not been included.
Q1 response: 270
Q1a response: £1,307,278.96.
Q1b and Q1c response: £836,078.81 has been recovered either through third-party insurers or via the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB). Please note that we do not hold separate figures.
Q2 response: No information held.
Outside of the Freedom of Information Act and in order to provide assistance, I can advise that our Claims Handlers will always seek to recover any uninsured losses.
