FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 611-2024
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 2nd July 2024 as follows:
Q1. Annual cost for the last three years to maintain the force’s fleet of vehicles (including servicing, replacement tyres, wear and tear, etc)
Q2. Annual cost for the last three years to repair accident-damaged vehicles.
Q3. Annual cost for the last three years to repair police vehicles damaged through acts of vandalism (recorded separately from but included in general 'repairs' to police vehicle fleets).
Q4. Number of vehicles written-off annually
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in providing the response to your request and for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Q1 response:
2021/22 £483,895.00
2022/23 £660,318.00
2023/24 £740,862.00
Q2 response:
2021/22 £254,262.00
2022/23 £279,836.00
2023/24 £374,692.00
Q3 response: The below figures are based on the category ‘Criminal Damage’ on the Fleet system, which tends to cover vandalism. These costs would usually be charged against ‘ACCIDENT REPAIRS THIRD PARTY’ which are included within the response to Q2.
2021/22 £7,921.50
2022/23 £0*
2023/24 £7109.50
*Our Fleet department has advised that although there were some vehicles recorded against the ‘Criminal Damage’ category on the Fleet System in 2022/23, there is no cost against them. This may be due to a number of reasons, such as the damage being minor with no body shop repairs.
Q4 response:
2021/22 – 6 (3 Warwickshire and 3 West Mercia)*
2022/23 – 14
2023/24 – 15
*Please note that during the period 2021/22, accidents were still being processed jointly between Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police whilst the separation from the Alliance was being completed. It is therefore possible that the data is incomplete; however, this is what is held by the force.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
