I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 4th January 2021 as follows:
I would like to request a breakdown of the amount of money spent by the force on all public affairs, public relations and communications in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 financial years, and the total spend so far in the 2023/24 financial year.
This includes all spend on the aforementioned fields which includes, but is not exclusive to internal communications/public relations staff pay, advertising costs, consultant fees and agency fees.

Response: Please see the below table, all costs (including employee and all third-party payments) are recorded against the Corporate Communications cost centre which covers the requested information. Each financial year runs from 01/04 to 31/03 of the following year, i.e. 2021/22 year ran 01/04/2021-31/03/2022. Outturn (actuals) figures are for 2021/22 and 2022/23 years and spend-to-date as at 10/01/2024 for 2023/24.
