Q2d response: When reviewing the information set out below please note that there is a field within the Crime Recording System for relationship and this is located within the suspect person record. This should therefore show the suspect’s relationship to the victim; for example, where a suspect is the son of the victim, the relationship should show as ‘son’. However, as the field is populated manually, from a drop down menu, this is subject to human error and, at times, it has been found that incorrect relationship information has been populated on the suspect record. Therefore, although the below is what is recorded, for the reason stated, this cannot be considered to be accurate. In order to ensure accuracy it would be necessary to review each and every crime on an individual basis to determine the relationship of the victim and suspect. There is a total of 629 suspects within the dataset and such searches would exceed the cost threshold (£450) which equates to 18 hours work at a standard rate of £25 per hour, as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
