FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 1111-2024
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 20th December 2024 and further clarification received on 30th and 31st December, as follows:
I'm interested in receiving the following data for the last year from the point of the most recent available data:
The total number of video submissions to the force via the National Dash Cam Safety Portal via the Egress system provided by Nextbase –
https://nextbase.co.uk/national-dash-cam-safety-portal/
Of these submissions:
The number that resulted in no further action (NFA)
The number that resulted in a warning letter
The number that resulted in a penalty charge notice or fine
The number that resulted in a notice to prosecute or other criminal proceedings.
On 23rd December we contacted you as follows:
Where you have asked for, "The number that resulted in 'NFA', 'warning letter', 'penalty charge or fine', 'notice to prosecute', 'other criminal proceedings,' please be advised that we can only provide the outcomes determined from the iniital triage within fees, and specifically whether this resulted in 'NFA', 'Warning Letter' or 'passed to Traffic Processing Unit for further consideration'.
This is because, where the initial triage does not result in a NFA decision or a warning letter, and further review is required to decide if a Notice of Intended Prosecution or other legal action is required, then the case is directed to the Traffic Processing Unit.
From that point on, the dash cam submissions are not processed separately from other cases and so we cannot search electronically for the outcomes for any dash cam submissions passed onto the Traffic Processing Unit, and it would be a case of having to manually review each and every case that the TPU have processed individually to determine if it originated from a Dash Cam submission.
Due to volumes this would certainly exceed the fee/time limit. Therefore, to avoid the whole request being exempt, please advise whether you wish to revise the request to:
Q1. The total number of video submissions to the force via the National Dash Cam Safety Portal via the Egress system provided by Nextbase –
https://nextbase.co.uk/national-dash-cam-safety-portal/
Of these:
Q2. The number that resulted as NFA following initial triage,
Q3. The number that resulted as a warning letter following the initial triage,
Q4. The number that resulted as passed to Traffic Processing Unit following the initial triage.
On 30th December you provided the following :
Yes I would like to revise the request to the suggested amendment.
On 31st December we contacted you for further clarification as follows:
Please would you clarify additionally, where you have said 'for the last year from the point of the most recent available data', whether you are asking for data for just 2024, or something else.
And you provided the following on the same date:
It would be good to have a year's worth of data to help make the analysis more meaningful and the data set bigger. So the request was made with the understanding that if there is a delay in the data becoming available for 2024 of some months then for example the most recent period of a year would be fine i.e. Oct 2023 - Oct 2024.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below. When reviewing the information please note that the following responses represent submissions to Op Snap for the period 1st October 2023 to 30th September 2024 inclusive.
Q1 response: 3985
Q2 response: 1919
Q3 response: 1044
Q4 response: 932
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
