FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: FOI-430-2024
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 18th April 2024, and clarification received on 10th May 2024, as follows:
Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to request the following information.
-The number of incidences of online harassment reported in the 2023, 2022, and 2021 calendar years.
- The number of incidences of cyberbullying reported in the 2023, 2022, and 2021 calendar years.
On 22nd April 2024 we requested the following clarification:
Regarding Q1, please be advised that online harassment is not a specific crime type. We can provide all crimes, recorded under Home Office offence category - 8L – Harassment, with an online crime marker. Please confirm if you would like to go ahead with this.
Regarding Q2, there is no offence of “Cyber Bullying”. Please could you advise which offences you would wish to include in searches - for example would this be all offences of Malicious communications (8R), Stalking (8Q), or Harassment (8L) with an online crime marker?
On 10th May 2024 you provided the following clarification:
For Q1, please can you provide all crimes, recorded under Home Office offence category - 8L - Harassment, with an online crime marker for the calendar years 2021, 2022, and 2023.
For Q2, please can I have information on Malicious Communications crimes with a cyber flag for the calendar years 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in providing the response to your request and for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
When reviewing the information please note that it was obtained by searching for all Harassment and Malicious Communication offences (HO codes ‘8L’ and ‘8R’), with an online marker attached, recorded between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2023.
