I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 8th April 2024 as follows:
In January 2023, looking at all accusations of sexual assault received by your police force:
1) How many accusations of sexual assault were received against males by males and how many of these resulted in an arrest without warrant?
2) How many accusations of sexual assault were received against females by males and how many of these resulted in an arrest without warrant?
3) How many accusations of sexual assault were received against males by females and how many of these resulted in an arrest without warrant?
4) How many accusations of sexual assault were received against females by females and how many of these resulted in an arrest without warrant?
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in providing the response to your request and for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Searches were conducted for all Sexual Assault offences recorded in January 2023 and this brought back 50 offences. Please note that in many cases there is no suspect role recorded and in others there is a victim role and/or suspect role recorded but the gender/s is blank. Therefore, the figures do not represent the total number of offences recorded, but only those where the stated victim / suspect gender combinations are recorded.
Q1 response: There are 6 offences recorded in the month of January of 2023 where there is a male victim role and a male suspect role. One of those offences has a linked custody reference denoting an arrest. This was reviewed and was without warrant.
Q2 response: There are no offences recorded in the month of January of 2023 where there is a male victim role and a female suspect role.
Q3 response: There are 26 offences recorded in the month of January of 2023 where there is a female victim role and a male suspect role. Five of those offences have a linked custody reference denoting an arrest. These were reviewed and all were without warrant.
Q4 response: There are no offences recorded in the month of January of 2023 where there is a female victim role and a female suspect role.
