FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 1059-2023
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 17th November 2023 as follows:
Q1. The number of warranted police officers who are currently seconded to work in control centres, call handling or dispatch roles in your police force.
Q2. The ranks of the officers who are seconded to these roles (e.g., Police Constable, Sergeant, Inspector etc).
Q3. The total number of roles in control centres, call handling and dispatch in your force.
Q4. The number and percentage of those roles currently filled by seconded warranted officers.
Q5. The number and percentage of those roles filled by police staff.
Please provide this information for the past 3 financial years - 2020/21, 2021/22 and the current financial year 2022/23.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in providing the response to your request and for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Q1 response: There are currently no permanent police officer roles in the control centre (as dispatchers or call handlers). 8 police officers are currently seconded into temporary roles in the control centre where they have a range of responsibilities including managing digital demand and answering 999 calls. This reduces to 6 in January. Prior to April 2023, there were 10 permanent officer posts included within the control centre, but no temporary seconded officers. The permanent posts were removed in April 2023.
Q2 response: Police Constable.
Q3 response: 125 FTE police staff, over 3 roles, and 8 temporary seconded Police Constables.
