FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 481-2023
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 4th May 2023 as follows:
Q1. I would like to find out how many police applications to court were made for SPOs based on vexatious legal applications between January 2020 and the present date. If possible, I would like the data to be broken down by year and gender of the person who requested them, as well as location and age group.
Q2. If costs to comply with the above request are not exceeded, I would also like to find out the total amount of police applications to courts for SPOs made in the timeframe specified above.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in providing the response to your request and for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please note that Warwickshire Police was part of a strategic alliance with West Mercia Police between 2012 and 2020. When considering the below, which reflects the information we hold; please note that, should there have been any applications submitted to court prior to the termination of the alliance agreement, for which Warwickshire police do not hold any information, then these will not be included in the figures, and for this reason the information should be treated with caution.
Q1 response: None
Q2 response: Records held by Warwickshire Police show that 5 applications for a Stalking Protection Order were put before the court between January 2020 and the date of your request.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
