FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 749-2023
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 14th August 2023 as follows:
I would like to ask about Stalking Protection Orders (SPO). Since they were first introduced in 2020:
Q1. How many SPOs your force has secured
Q2. How many SPOs were made where the victim was a) male b) female
Separately I would like to ask
Q3. How many interim or full SPOs have been made where the perpetrator is under the age of 18.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Please note that Stalking Protection Orders came into effect in law as of January 2020. However, Warwickshire Police was part of a strategic alliance with West Mercia Police between 2012 and April 2020. When considering the below, which reflects the information we hold; please note that should there have been any applications submitted to court prior to the termination of the alliance agreement, for which Warwickshire police do not hold any information, then these will not be included in the figures. For this reason, the below information should be treated with caution.
Q1 response: Records held by Warwickshire Police show that 3 full stalking protection orders were granted between January 2020 and the date of the request. In addition, for the same period, 2 interim orders were also granted, with one of these being followed by a full order.
Q2 response: 3 orders protected female victims, and 2 orders protected both male and female victims.
Q3 response: None
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
