FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 735-2023
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 08/08/2023 as follows:
Could I please have the following information:
How many reports of stolen agricultural equipment / machinery have been made in your force this year?
Please could I have the figure for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Response: Please be advised that the requested information is not available in a readily retrievable format. There is no way of identifying theft of agricultural equipment/machinery and, in order to determine such information, it would be necessary to review an inordinate amount of offences on an individual basis.
Due to changes in systems, it is not possible to retrieve information prior to 4th October 2017; however I can advise that just for the period 2019 to 2022 there are in excess of 15,000 offences recorded in relation to Burglary or Theft which, even at a conservative estimate of 2 minutes per offence, would equate to in excess of 500 hours of work to carry out the searches. Therefore, the work involved in locating, retrieving and recording the information requested exceeds the cost threshold (£450), which equates to 18 hours work at a standard rate of £25 per hour, as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with s12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts as a Refusal Notice for this request.
In accordance with Section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice and assistance; however, I am unable to suggest a way to reduce your request into one which could be managed within the fees limit.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
