FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 722-2023
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 4th August 2023 as follows:
Can you please provide the following information for your Police Authority;
The number of crimes/offences recorded as 'Domestic Abuse' broken down by Gender. We understand that gender may be recorded on your systems as Male, Female or Unknown/Other and that level of information is fine.
I would like to request this for the following periods
On 4th August, a request for clarification was sent to you as follows:
Please be advised that there is no offence of 'domestic abuse'. Where domestic abuse is believed to be a factor in a crime, an included classification of 'non-crime domestic abuse investigation' is added to the primary crime classification.
Where a domestic incident has been attended, but no offences have been identified, then a non-crime domestic abuse investigation is recorded as the primary classification. In such cases, all relevant individuals are recorded as 'involved parties', and so there are no victim or suspect roles.
Therefore, do you require the number of crimes which have an included classification of 'domestic abuse investigation' or something else?
In relation to gender, do you mean victim gender? If so, please confirm if you therefore require a breakdown of victim gender for each crime with a 'domestic abuse investigation' classification added, irrespective of whether an individual has been a repeat victim or something else?
On 7th August 2023 we received the following clarification from you:
I can confirm that we do require the number of offences which have an included classification of 'domestic abuse investigation' broken down by victim gender irrespective of whether an individual has been a repeat victim.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Response: When reviewing the below information, please be advised that searches were conducted for all crimes recorded between 1st April 2020 and 31st March 2022, with an included classification of ‘Domestic Abuse Investigation’.
