I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 12th April 2023 as follows:
NOTE: If you do not yet have the figures for 22/23 then please just provide the data in relation to 21/22.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Q1a & Q1b response:
2021/22 a total of 16642 drivers opted for the fixed penalty and 30024 drivers attended and completed a retraining course.
2022/23 22188 drivers opted for the fixed penalty and 38698 drivers attended and completed a retraining course.
Please note that not all motoring offences have the option of a course and some offences may still be in progress. Some offences may go to Court, and others may get cancelled.
Q2a & Q2b response: The financial penalty this will vary depending on the offence committed, they range from £100 to £300.
The cost of enrolling on a course will depend on which course and who the driver books the course with as each force has their own set of providers and each provider charges a different amount. Information about all courses can be found here.
