Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in providing the response to your request and for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please find your questions and the Warwickshire Police responses set out below.
Response: All Student Officers receive an in person lesson in their initial training on this subject, which includes the use of a specially prepared VR (virtual reality) video and de-brief on the learning over one day. The training takes place in house and has been undertaken since October 2022.
In addition, all new students receive a 3 hour input from the Professional Standards Department which includes material around improper and prejudicial behaviour, inappropriate relationships, APSP (Abuse of position for a sexual purpose) and sexual harassment/misogyny in the workplace. This is face to face training delivered by the Head/Deputy Head of PSD. This has also been briefed out more widely to partners who work with and support vulnerable people, in order to identify those officers whose behaviour falls sort of the standards of professional behaviour we expect.
The students also receive an additional hour at the end of their initial training (prior to going out on patrol) which includes an input on social media. This is face to face training delivered by the Head/Deputy Head of PSD.
All new starters into the force receive an input from the Professional Standards Department around the standards of professional behaviour. These are reinforced at various career points, such as promotion.
Senior leaders have received a 1 day training package (in person) on Misconduct Meetings and Hearings which included case studies around improper behaviour.
I can advise that the organisation has also conducted a Culture and Behaviour Survey of the workforce to identify areas of concern in order that the Professional Standards Department can target and tackle any location and behaviour based issues.
