FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 787-21
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 28th September 2021. Please find below the response to your request:
Per calendar year from 2016 up to and including 2020, how many Non-Disclosure Agreements were signed between your force and their Police Officers and Police Staff (including PCSOs)?
Response:
2016 = 1
2017 = 2
2018 = 0
2019 = 2
2020 = 2
In this FOI response, we have taken into account Law Society guidance on what might be considered a ‘non-disclosure agreement’ and in light of that, we have included figures for all settlement agreements and COT3 agreements with employees which include a standard confidentiality clause, regardless of the reason for that agreement.
The confidentiality clause is not designed to ‘buy silence’ or prevent whistleblowing but rather the clause ensures that the terms of the agreement are kept confidential between the parties. This has benefits for both the employer and the employee.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom Of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
