FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 285-2021
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 24th March 2021 as follows:
I write to request information and records under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000 regarding the number of domestic abuse reports received by your force of which details were passed on to the Home Office. Specifically I would like the following information:
Please break down the information by year, as follows:
Number of domestic abuse reports passed to the Home Office for reasons relating to immigration status:
2018:
2019:
2020:
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below:
Response: Please be advised that the information requested is not held centrally and is therefore not available in a readily retrievable format. In order to determine the number of domestic abuse reports which were subsequently passed to the Home Office to review immigration status, it would be necessary to manually review each and every domestic abuse crime reported to Warwickshire Police during the stated period. Between 2018 and 2020 there were 20839 domestic abuse crimes and 12313 domestic abuse non-crime investigations and it has been estimated by the business area that it would take approximately 10 minutes to check each record. This equates to in excess of 5500 hours of work and means that the cost of providing you with the information is above the amount to which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of locating and retrieving the information exceeds the ‘appropriate level’ as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts as a Refusal Notice.
In accordance with Section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice and assistance in relation to your request; however, due to the amount of records which would need to be examined, I am unable to suggest a way to pare down your request into one which could be managed within the fees limit.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
