FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 621-2021
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 14th July 2021 as follows:
The number of noise complaints received by your police force between May 1st 2018 and April 30th 2019
The number of noise complaints received by your police force between May 1st 2019 and April 30th 2020
The number of noise complaints received by your police force between May 1st 2020 and April 30th 2021
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Response: Please be advised that the information requested is not centrally recorded and is not available in a readily retrievable format. There is no specific identifier for noise reports and, in order to attempt to determine the number received by Warwickshire Police, searches were conducted of the Command and Control System using a keyword search of ‘Noise’ from 01/05/2018 00:00:00 to the 30/04/2021 23:59:59. I can advise that this search returned 14,388 incidents, each of which would need to be reviewed on an individual basis to determine relevance. Should it take 2 minutes per log this would equate to 480 hours of work; therefore, the cost of providing you with the information is above the amount to which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of locating and retrieving the information exceeds the ‘appropriate level’ as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with S12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts as a Refusal Notice for this request.
In accordance with Section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice and assistance in relation to your request; however, due to the volume of records involved I am unable to suggest a way to revise your request into one that could be answered within the fees limit.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
