Response:
Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act states that a public authority is not obliged to comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the cost of complying with the request would exceed the “appropriate limit”. For Police forces in the UK, the "appropriate limit" is considered to be up to 18 hours of work on one request. This information is given in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
The information that you are requesting is not stored in a way which permits easy retrieval. Warwickshire Police do not have the capability within our systems to immediately identify if a crime had been reported from an HMO.
This kind of information could be recorded within the incident log, but it would not be mandatory therefore could be inaccurate. In order to obtain any information relating to your request an analyst would need to manually review every recorded incident within the period specified.
In accordance with Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please treat this as the refusal notice I am required to provide to you.
In accordance with Section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice and assistance in relation to your request. However due to the details requested I am unable to suggest a way to refine the request down into one that could be answered in full.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom Of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
