FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 1009-2021
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 2nd December 2021 as follows:
We write under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“FOIA”) to request information on Warwickshire Police’s current use of predictive policing programmes.
By predictive policing programmes, we mean any police programme that involves the inputting of data and production of outputs that are used to predict where and when crime will happen, usually either by identifying areas of ‘high crime’ or individuals who are likely to commit or be victims of crime. Usually but not always predictive policing programmes use algorithms or artificial intelligence to evaluate police data and make predictive decisions. In addition to ‘predictive policing programmes’, you may refer to these programmes as ‘algorithmic decision-making’, ‘predictive mapping programmes’, ‘individual risk assessment programmes’, etc..
Please answer the following questions.
If the answer to question 1 is yes, please answer questions 2 to 7 in respect of each programme trialled/used or for which there are plans to trial/use.
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below.
Q1 response: No
Q2 to Q7 response: Not applicable
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is as accurate as possible.
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom Of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
