FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 348-2021
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 13th April 2021 as follows:
a. Police Officer (Detective or Constable, including Specials)
b. PCSO
c. Other Police staff
b. How many of your PCSOs have criminal convictions?
c. How many of your other Police staff have criminal convictions?
a. The person's role and/or rank
b. The offence
c. Whether the person received a custodial sentence (suspended or otherwise)
d. Whether the person was convicted before they joined the police
Please find the Warwickshire Police response set out below:
Response: I must advise that information in relation to officer and staff convictions is not held in a readily retrievable format. It is not the case that Warwickshire Police could not determine whether an individual employee has a criminal conviction; but that the information is not centrally recorded. Therefore, in order to ascertain the requested information, it would be necessary to conduct a review of information held in relation to each and every employee of Warwickshire Police on an individual basis.
There are in excess of 1950 employees in Warwickshire Police and, even at a conservative estimate of 5 minutes per individual, this would equate to in excess of 162 hours of work:
1950 individuals @ 5 minutes per individual (minimum) = 162.5 hours
This would involve a disproportionate amount of effort which would take us over the fees limit (£450) as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please treat this letter as the Refusal Notice I am required to provide to you in respect of your request. Please note that if one part of a request exceeds the fees limit, then Section 12 applies to the whole request.
In accordance with Section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice and assistance in relation to your request. However due to the volume of records that would need to be examined I am unable to suggest a way to pare down your request into one that could be managed within the fees limit. However, I can advise that information in relation to police workforce data for each police force is published annually by the Home Office:

Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of complaint.
Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write or email the Freedom of Information Unit quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely
