FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NOs: West Mercia Police 11791 and Warwickshire Police 11792
I write in connection with your requests for information which were received on 3rd May 2019. Please find below the responses to your requests for West Mercia Police and Warwickshire Police information:
Please could you provide a breakdown of all rape and other sexual offences that were recorded
to have taken place in the location of a school, for the last three years (2018, 2017 and 2016).
Please breakdown the statistics by:
(a) Year
(b) Type of crime - rape or other sexual offence
(c) How many victims were identified for each offence (if more than 1)
(d) Whether the suspect(s) was an adult or a child (if known)
(e) Whether the victim(s) was an adult or a child
NB: I appreciate that, in some cases, the exact location (or category of location) may not be
included on the records. However, for the avoidance of doubt, this FOI request concerns only those crimes that are specifically recorded/ tagged as taking place in a school.
REPLY: Please see the attached tables
Please also note the following. Many Sexual Offences crimes are historic so while they have been recorded in the time period they could have occurred years before.
In order to answer whether the victim and suspect were adults or children the age of 16 is taken as the start for adulthood. If there are more than one victim or suspect and there is a mixture of Adults and children they have been defined on the Issue sheet at Adult/Children. Due to the nature of recording where the age is calculated there is a possibility that ages could be incorrect.
Some crimes do not have a suspect, victim or both.
