FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NOs: West Mercia Police 11340 and Warwickshire Police 11341
I write in connection with your requests for information which were received on 1st March 2019. Please find below the responses to your requests for West Mercia Police and Warwickshire Police information:
1) How many drone-related (ie unmanned aerial vehicle, or small unmanned aircraft-related) crimes have been recorded by your force in each calendar year between 1st Jan 2014 and 28th Feb 2019? Please exclude thefts of drones.
2) Of those recorded crimes, for each calendar year, how many have involved a possible threat to aircraft safety?

Drone, UAV, unmanned aerial vehicle, unmanned aircraft, airfield, airport, airspace, air traffic, plane, helicopter.
3) How many arrests for drone-related offences has your force made in each calendar year between 1st Jan 2014 and 28th Feb 2019? Please exclude thefts of drones.
4) Of these arrests, for each calendar year, how many related to a possible threat to aircraft safety?
5) Where an arrest was made, what was the outcome? (eg charged, released under investigation, no further action etc)
REPLY: Please see the attached tables.
Please note that there are no crimes that have been recorded that constitutes a threat to aircraft safety. This was checked by using both the Home Office code 155/21 and by reading the MO Descriptions.
We are unable to provide information as to arrests as other than the one home office code there is no particular charge for drones. Therefore it would not be included in an arrest record. It is assumed that if there is an outcome of 'Charge/Summons' that an arrest has been made.
