FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NOs: West Mercia Police 12218 and Warwickshire Police 11219
I write in connection with your requests for information which were received on 17th July 2019. Please find below the responses to your requests for West Mercia Police and Warwickshire Police information:
Total number of bank cards (debit or credit) reported lost or stolen to your organisation by the public over the last three financial years, broken down by year.
If possible, could you provide detail on the type of card? E.g. debit or credit and the name of the bank e.g. Barclays?
REPLY:
To provide detail on the types of card would require a manual check of the data which would exceed the fees limit of 18 hours. Therefore the cost of providing you with the information is above the amount to which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of locating and retrieving the information exceeds the ‘appropriate level’ as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with the Act, please treat this letter as the Refusal Notice that I am required to provide to you in respect of this part of your question.
Under Section 16 FOIA I am obliged to provide advice and assistance in relation to a request. In this case I have provided a response for number of reports of lost or stolen bank cards.
Please also note that West Mercia Police and Warwickshire Police changed to a new recording system in 2017, hence the information for 2017 has been provided separately prior to and after 04/10/17.
