Using artificial intelligence (AI) to complete online forms
Our website can be used to contact us for many different reasons. For example, you can:
- request information about us, known as a 'freedom of information' (FOI) request
- request information about yourself, such as a 'subject access request'
- make a complaint or give feedback
Problems caused by AI
If you're using AI to fill in any of our forms, please be aware that using AI can cause issues such as:
- making your submissions long and repetitive
- giving us information we don't need
- making it harder for us to find the information we need
- giving factually incorrect information, such as about laws or organisations
AI checklist
If you've used AI, please review the text before you submit it to us. You should:
- ensure your text is clear and concise
- ensure the text asks for the information you want (if you're making a request)
- ensure the text says exactly what you want it to (for example, if you're making a complaint)
- check any facts
- check anything that AI has referred to that you don't understand
- remove duplication
- ensure the tone is suitable
Further help
For further help with AI, please read this guidance on the Information Commissioner's Office website. This advice can help us to avoid delays caused by the use of AI.
