Today, Monday 3 March, we visited T&S Abattoir in Glenside, Arley.
You may have seen some marked police vehicles on or around Ansley Lane, or come to talk to our Safer Neighbourhood Team officers at the site.
We were responding, alongside partner agencies, to concerns and complaints from the local community about anti-social behaviour, traffic, and working conditions on site.
The purpose of our visit was to ensure the safety and safeguarding of workers and members of the public, making sure that relevant legislation and regulations are being complied with.
We work in cooperation with business owners wherever possible, and our visit does not confirm that any criminal activity is occurring or has occurred on this site.
DCI David Andrews, from our Child Abuse, Trafficking and Exploitation Team (CATE), said, “Warwickshire Police have an established relationship with a number of statutory agencies including Local Authorities, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue, Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, Health and Safety Executive, Home Office Immigration, Food Standards Agency, and the NHS.
“We routinely undertake joint activity with these agencies and will utilise the full range of legal powers available to us as a partnership. Businesses have the right to operate within Warwickshire however we, and our partners, will take action where serious concerns are raised.”
DS Lydster said, “We’d like to thank the business owner and the workers on site for welcoming us and supporting us with our enquiries.
“Information provided by members of the community is vital in helping us to act in situations like this. Please keep the information coming.
“All information we receive is kept in the strictest confidence, or you can send it anonymously through charities like CrimeStoppers.”
If you have information about anything suspicious happening in your area, please call 101 or visit www.warwickshire.police.uk/ro/report. Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or contact them via their website.
