A video was recently shared on social media showing an assault of a woman in a wheelchair on Prince’s Street in Nuneaton.
This was reported to have taken place on 17 January.
An investigation has taken place, which has led to a suspect being identified and arrested on 21 January.
Following this, Michael Yeatman, 37 of Gilfil Road in Nuneaton, has been charged with assault by beating.
He will appear in Warwickshire Magistrates Court for his first hearing on 21 February.
PC Tom Shorthouse said “If you witness a crime, for example an assault, we will always take it seriously and investigate thoroughly as soon as it is reported to us.
“People in our communities have the right to feel safe when they are on our streets, and we will take robust action where necessary to preserve this.”
