With the recruitment window now open for aspiring police cadets in Warwickshire, two drop-in evenings have been organised for prospective applicants to learn more about the scheme on Friday 24 January and Tuesday 4 February.
One of our current cadets - 17-year-old Georgia - has written about her journey:
“I joined as a junior cadet in 2021. Since then, I’ve attended weekly sessions covering all aspects of the police force which are very insightful and engaging.
“Cadet sessions are very interactive and allow for anyone to participate and join in. They expand your life skills and encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone with the support of cadet leaders and peers.
““he scheme has provided lots of volunteering opportunities, allowing me to meet people from all different backgrounds. Being a cadet has become an important aspect of my life and has really allowed me to mature as a person. I am now the High Sheriff cadet, which cadets can aspire to achieve in their final year.
“Cadets has been the best four years of my life and has given me some lifelong friends who I wouldn’t have met otherwise. If anyone is thinking of applying, I’d say go for it!”
The police cadets is a scheme for 13-16 year olds who live or go to school in Warwickshire, which offers them an opportunity to gain a practical understanding of policing, develop their spirit of adventure and good citizenship. Applications are now open until 28 February.
Please come along between 6.30pm-8pm on either Friday 24 January (Holiday Inn Express, Nuneaton) or Tuesday 4 February (Warwickshire Police Headquarters, Leek Wootton). To sign-up for the recruitment events, please email [email protected] (Nuneaton) or [email protected] (Leek Wootton).
