Officers investigating a chemical incident in Nuneaton have charged a man.
Jonah Smith, 27, of Shakespeare Drive in Nuneaton, has been charged with arson, burglary, and criminal damage under £5,000.
He will appear in Coventry Magistrate’s Court today and remains in custody at this time.
This follows events on Saturday 18 May, during which officers responded to concerns of a man having access to dangerous chemicals.
A scene guard was established while the house was searched. Traces of chemicals were allegedly found inside a car belonging to Smith.
The investigation was launched following a report of a man believed to be combining chemicals on the tarmac at an industrial unit in Attleborough Fields, Nuneaton.
The chemicals used have been traced back to an alleged burglary in Worcestershire which took place on 16 May.
A 28-year-old man from Nuneaton was also arrested in connection with the incident yesterday afternoon and he has been bailed until August while enquiries continue.
